Aerospace Surface Treatments Limited1999 - 2000 Working as Consultant/Interim Group Quality Director - responsible for gaining JAR-145 Approval for Company - in aerospace component maintenance, overhaul & repair. Wrote JAR-145 Exposition and was responsible for the implementation programme. JAR-145 Procedures written from scratch - as this was a new requirement for site. Location: SE England. Associated Octel Co Ltd, Ellesmere Port1996 - 98 Working as a Associate with MCP Management Consultants, produced Maintenance and Maximo computer systems procedures and co-ordinated creation of company wide Maintenance Management Procedures which were visible company wide on Acrobat Reader. Procedures were produced in a quality format and constituted both a working Manual and a ‘model’ - defining the systems for all similar industries in terms of: Criticality; FMECA; Preventive Maintenance; Job Work Selection; Work Documentation; Maximo; Job Specifications; etc. The Procedures produced constituted a 'matrix' of all the activities required for 'total preventive maintenance'. In addition, created the documentation and instructed on 3 courses: (1) 'Maintenance Documentation', (2) 'Maintenance Planning', and (3) 'Achieving Preventive Maintenance'. Location: Ellesmere Port, Wirral, NW England. Aylesford Newsprint1997 Carried out training in Maintenance Procedures writing at Aylesford Newsprint Ltd. Location: SE England Cabot Carbon1996 Carried out training in Maintenance Procedures writing at Cabot Carbon. Location: Wirral, NW England. Uzbekistan Airways/Plant 2431996 Working as Independent Consultant - worked with Uzbekistan Airways/Plant 243 - Created and briefed on Programme (MS Project) for implementation of the JAR-145 and ISO9000 (supported by BSI QA) in the Tashkent Maintenance Facility and, worked as Business Consultant for "Uzbekistan Airways"- consultations with British Airways, British Aerospace, and AIR, on maintenance engineers training requirements for A310, B767, B757, B737, and RJ85 aircraft. Polish Airlines1996 Working as Consultant in association with IAP - carried out bid preparation work for JAR-145 - the Joint Aviation Authority Approval for Airline Maintenance - and JAR-OPS Implementation Programme for LOT Polish Airlines. Location: Warsaw, Poland. Air UK Engineering Ltd1992-95 - Quality Assurance Director - Airline Maintenance Organisation. JAR-145 & Quality Implementation in the airline maintenance environment. Airline Maintenance Engineering Company (490 employees) - within Air UK Group Ltd Companies (2,700 employees). Reported to Managing Director, as member of Board/Management Team. Responsible for successful implementation of JAR-145 - standard of the Joint Aviation Authorities for Approved Maintenance Organisations; quality management systems and introduction of a more dynamic quality culture within Company. Work on JAR-OPS 1 & Subpart M. Responsible - 14 direct staff, company network of 30 QARs and 350 Certifying Engineers, maintaining 40 Fokker 27, Fokker 50, Fokker 100 and BAe 146 aircraft. Developed hierarchy of Quality Manuals; engineering analysis; writing and editing of procedures. Worked towards gaining BS EN ISO9001. Gained JAR-145 Approval for the Company. Particularly involved in gaining contract for Queen's Flight work; and providing assistance and setting up senior management visits and courses (topics - JAR-145, ISO9000, TQM, auditing and quality) for Uzbekistan Airways/Plant 243, Tashkent. Responsible for Health & Safety. Location: Norwich, East Anglia. Marshall's of Cambridge1990 Working as Quality Consultant - investigated and made recommendations on the Company's quality, audit and Inspection systems covering aircraft maintenance. Recommendations were subsequently agreed and implemented. Location: Cambridge. MOD Director General Defence Quality Assurance1989 - 90 Worked as a Principal Quality Officer in the Reliability & Maintainability Department, with responsibility for the R & M policy for the three armed services. Acted as Secretary to the MOD Committee for Defence Equipment Reliability & Maintainability (CODERM) and was a member of the Management, Training & Techniques Committees. Editor of the CODERM Magazine - for industry. Acted as UK Representative on the NAT0 Reliability Committee and Chairman of National Working Party. Seminars - made monthly presentations to audiences of up to 300 from industry and military procurement on 'Contracting for Reliability'. Location: Royal Arsenal Woolwich, London. Popular Flying Association1989 As Member of PFA Executive Committee, carried out a management systems review and recommended upgraded management structure. All recommendations were subsequently adopted. Location: SE England. Royal Air Force1983-85 - Maintenance & Repair Manager - Aircraft Components.As the Maintenance & Repair Manager - responsible for 200-man Component Servicing Department. Set up and developed workload measurement/ manpower assessment systems, involving armament, safety equipment, ejection seats, MDC, hydraulics, wheel, tyres, undercarriages, airframe structures, fuel systems, composite repairs, and development work. Chaired Production and Union Meetings. In charge of quality drive. Radically re-organised bays, procedures, processes, material handling, auditing, etc. Responsible for the formulation of Manuals and procedures. Organisation successfully assessed to Def Stan 05-21, in 1984. Promoted as a result of work in this and previous jobs. Location: South Wales. 1982-83 - Fleet Maintenance Manager. RAF Victor Air-to-Air Tanker Fleet and Refuelling Equipment.Delegated Engineering Authority for RAF Victor Air-to-Air Tanker fleet and Refuelling Equipment, value in excess of £400 Million. Responsible for fleet policy, programme management, fleet servicing plans, aircraft structural integrity, modifications, Servicing Schedules and fleet recovery programme after Falklands War. Defined the Maintenance Policies for aircraft and equipment. Worked with prime defence contractors, ie BAe, FRL and Dowty Rotol Ltd. Location: Bucks, SE England. 1980-82 - Fleet Maintenance Manager - RAF Canberra Fleet.Delegated Engineering Authority for Canberra aircraft. Responsible for fleet policy for 119 aircraft of estimated capital cost in excess of £500 Million, management of servicing, definition of refurbishment schedule, fleet servicing plans, rectification programme, all modification programmes and fatigue management. Responsible for the fleet maintenance policy. Worked closely with BAe. Location: Bucks. 1978-80 - Maintenance Manager - Maintenance of Victor and Canberra Aircraft.Responsible for Aircraft Engineering Department (150 men) engaged in the scheduled servicing and rectification of Victor and Canberra aircraft. Responsible for large hangar complex and servicing bays for: hydraulics, engines, oxygen equipment, airframe repairs, electrical work and planning activities. Location: Norfolk, East Anglia. 1977-78 - Maintenance Manager - Ground Support EquipmentResponsible for Engineering Support Department of 250 men, working in general engineering (sheet metal, machining, turning, milling, welding, painting, ground equipment and electrical work), armament, ejection seats, aircraft electrical and safety equipment, and large vehicle fleet. Supervised temporary relocation of a large proportion of facilities to meet operational requirement. Location: Norfolk, East Anglia. 1976-77 - Maintenance TrainingTrained as a Royal Air Force Maintenance Engineering Officer. Awarded Category - A2 - BSc Level Course - I year - RAF College Cranwell. Location: Lincolnshire.
