2001 Assisted in the implementation of process approach to
Proposal/Bid Management using structured method. Made a
presentation to Lotus/IBM management on 'ISO9000: 2000/TicKIT'.
Aerospace Surface Treatments Limited

1998 – 2000 Worked as an independent Consultant/interim
Group Quality Director in Aerospace Surface Treatments Ltd - in aerospace
manufacturing and maintenance environments - covering metal fabrication,
assembly, machining, NDT, surface treatments and component overhaul and
repair. Gained both JAR-21 Production Approval and
JAR-145 Maintenance Approval for Company. Assisted in the
setting up new manufacturing and maintenance facilities, defining the
organisation, procedures, material and data flows, supplier and subcontractor
control and computer procedures (using MTMS and Shogun total manufacturing
systems), etc. Wrote both the JAR-21 Subpart G Production
Organisation Exposition and the JAR-145 Maintenance Organisation
Exposition. Conducted training review
and numerous updates of implementation programmes, in MS

Inflite Engineering Services Ltd

1998 - 2000 Working as an independent Consultant - in
Inflite Engineering Services Ltd, in an aerospace manufacturing environment - as
interim Group Quality Director, covering four
sites at Stansted, Bishops Stortford and
Manchester. Defined and implemented Action Plan
for Civil Aviation Authority, using MS Project, and managed staffs to improve
all aspects of process control, planning, process definition, control of job
packs and work discipline. Radically revised and updated
working procedures in the main Quality Manual to meet working, ISO 9000 and
Customers’ requirements. Authored Quality Systems and Audit
Handbook, Organisation Manual and draft ISO9001:2000
Manual. Carried out audits and monitoring and took
remedial actions to improve manufacturing control. Set up
Egami Archiving system in 5 user Novell Net. Developed and
introduced company wide procedures for the use of Q-Pulse. Wrote Quality
Plans for GKN Astra & Falcon, BAe Brough 'Shop to Shop' Work and BAe
Chadderton 'Shop to Shop' work. Extensive revision of all
procedures for the measurement and remedial actions on scrap, re-work and

quality and documentation control specialist for a Bid for the development of a
European Aeronautical Information System Database Project for the EUROCONTROL

1996 - 98 Working as a Associate with MCP Management
Consultants, produced Maintenance and Maximo computer systems procedures and
coordinated creation of company wide Maintenance Management Procedures which
were published company wide on Acrobat Reader.
Procedures were produced in a quality format and constituted both a working
Acrobat Reader Manual and a ‘model’ - defining the systems for all similar
industries in terms of: Criticality: FMECA; Preventive Maintenance; Job Work
Selection; Work Documentation; Maximo, Job Specifications, etc. Instructed on
procedures. Location: Ellesmere Port, Wirral, NW England.
Uzbekistan Airways/Plant 243
1996 Working as Independent Consultant - worked with
Uzbekistan Airways/Plant 243. Created and briefed on Programme (MS
Project) for JAR-145 and ISO9000 (supported by BSI QA); and, worked as Business
Consultant for "Uzbekistan Airways", conducting consultations with
British Airways, British Aerospace, and AIR, on training requirements for A310,
B767, B757, B737, and RJ85 aircraft. Successfully carried
out. For 2 years carried on regular liaison/correspondence
with Uzbekistan Airways/ Plant 243. Location: UK & Uzbekistan.

1996 Working as Consultant in association with IAP, carried out
bid preparation work for JAR-145/JAR-OPS Implementation Programme for LOT Polish
Airlines. Location: Warsaw, Poland.

Consultants - Produced quality, supply and asset management procedures as part

Responsible for successful implementation of JAR-145; quality management systems
and introduction of a more dynamic quality culture within
Company. Work on JAR-OPS 1 Subpart M.
Responsible - 14 direct staff, company network of 30 QARs and 350 Certifying
Engineers, maintaining 40 Fokker 27, Fokker 50, Fokker 100 and BAe 146
aircraft. Developed hierarchy of Quality Manuals; conducted
engineering analysis on working methods and practices; and, wrote and edited
procedures. Gained JAR-145 Approval for the Company, and worked
towards gaining BS EN ISO9001. Particularly
involved in gaining contract for Queen's Flight work; and providing assistance
and setting up senior management visits and courses (topics - JAR-145, ISO9000,
TQM, auditing and quality) for Uzbekistan Airways/Plant 243,
Tashkent. Responsible for Health &

1991-92 - Group Quality Manager - Aerospace Manufacturing Sub-Contractor.
Implementation of AQAP-1, BS5750 (ISO9001), CAA & Company Approvals. Senior
Manager Responsibilities.
Reporting to Group Chief Executive. Company of 760
employees in aerospace manufacture - metal fabrication, component
inspection, assembly, machining, heat & chemical treatments, pipe work,
welding and duct work.
Responsible for policy, co-ordination and organisation of 5 sites for AQAP-1,
BS5750 Part1/ISO9001, CAA (A2, B1, B3, B4, E1 and E2) and major Company
Approvals, ie for British Aerospace, Flight Refuelling, Fokker,
etc. Supervision of 45 direct staff and 25 Quality
Assurance Representatives - Department Budget £1.5M pa.
In one year, gained the Company AQAP-1; BS5750 Part 1/ISO9001; CAA B1 Overhauler;
British Aerospace BAe/FIL/139 (Harlow) site Approval; and, Preferred Approved
Supplier - Westlands Aerospace Approvals.
During this period, made extensive use of Total Quality Management techniques
and tools. Re-wrote Quality Manual and
Exposition. Set up company wide audit, drawing and
specification control, sampling and vendor rating, order/enquiry management and
materials handling systems. Responsible for systems, manuals &
procedures to gain Essex Tool Suppliers Ltd - Registered Stockists of Assessed
Capability to BS5750 Pt2. In addition, carried out
Interviewing and recruiting of senior executives, managers and staff; &
Tender Responses. Location: Chelmsford, Stansted & Harlow,

Marshall's of Cambridge
1990 Quality Consultant. Investigated the
Company's quality, audit and Inspection systems. Made recommendations for
the re-organisation of quality and reported on the need for cultural
change. Re-organisation and changes were all
subsequently adopted. Location: Cambridge.
MOD Director General Defence Quality Assurance
1989 - 90 Worked as a Principal Quality Officer in the
Reliability & Maintainability Department, with responsibility for the
R & M policy for the three armed services. Secretary to
the MOD Committee for Defence Equipment Reliability & Maintainability (CODERM)
and member of the Management, Training & Techniques
Committees. Editor of the CODERM Magazine - for
industry. Acted as UK Representative on the NAT0 Reliability
Committee and Chairman of National Working Party. Seminars -
made monthly presentations to audiences of up to 300 from industry and military
procurement on 'Contracting for Reliability'. Location:
Royal Arsenal Woolwich, London.
Popular Flying Association
1989 As Member of PFA Executive Committee, carried out a
management systems review and recommended upgraded management
structure. All recommendations were subsequently
adopted. Location: SE England.
Royal Air Force
1985-89 As Senior Production Manager - introduced AQAP-1
quality systems into a 600-man factory, manufacturing radar, radio and
communications equipment. Developed a Quality Cost
System based on BS6143, which made quality measurable in financial terms
throughout the factory.
1983-85 As Production Manager - set up and developed the
manuals and procedures to gain successful assessment to Def Stan 05-21 in a
200-man aircraft manufacturing and component maintenance facility.
